Hotel Overview

London hotels - Park Lane Sheraton Hotel Art Deco grandeur in smart Mayfair
  • The 1920s live on at this eight-storey hotel overlooking Green Park, between Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace.
  • The 307 guestrooms are fitted with marble Art Deco bathrooms, and have views of Green Park or Mayfair.
  • Set beneath a vaulted stained-glass ceiling, The Palm Court offers afternoon tea, harp music and soft velvet sofas.

Location

Mayfair (London)
Famous for its hotels, this exclusive residential district holds London's most expensive homes and, on Bond Street, its most expensive shops. But the tucked-away pubs, restaurants, and local shops of atmospheric Shepherd Market offer affordable local color, too. The bright lights and bustle of Piccadilly Circus are just a short walk away.

Property amenities

Situated at the heart of the hotel, The Palm Court, serving tea and cocktails, is one of the hotel's most memorable Art Deco highlights. The vaulted stained-glass ceiling, comfortable sofas and palm trees provide a refined but relaxed setting.

The hotel's 11 meeting rooms include the 11,000-square-foot (1,000-square-meter) Ballroom, with Art Deco mirrors and glittering chandeliers, the wood-paneled Oak Room and the Tyburn Room with multimedia video-conferencing.

What to expect: The white-stone façade and red mansard roof overlook smart Piccadilly. Guests will find old-style grandeur, tried-and-tested comfort and original Art Deco design at this pied-á-terre for Bond Street shoppers and businesspeople.

Amenity highlights: The Palm Court is a gracious setting for tea and scones or champagne and cigars. The 11,000-square-foot (1,000-square-meter) Ballroom glitters with Art Deco mirrors and is decorated in silver and mauve hues following a full restoration in 1997 to celebrate the hotel’s 70th anniversary. Classic British television programs such as Jeeves and Wooster and Brideshead Revisited were filmed here.

Insider tip: Opened by Sir Bracewell Smith in the 1920s, this pioneering hotel is said to have been the first in Europe with en-suite bathrooms. At that time, a double room with private bathroom cost no more than 35 shillings (£1.75 or US$3).
